Our parents are the key to fully understanding and working effectively with our children. The Child School prides itself in holding to the following principles
- Educate parents about the methods and materials utilized in academic remediation, providing guidelines for support at home.
- Provide parents with alternative ways of observing, interpreting and responding to their children’s performance and behavior.
- Increase the family-school bond by inviting parental involvement in school activities.
- Decrease isolation and frustration by providing opportunities for parents to share and solve problems together.
- Increase communication between parents and faculty.
Parents Association (PA)
The goal of the Parents Association is to increase parent participation at the school and to build a sense of community in which all families feel connected and involved in the academic, emotional and social growth of our students. We work hard to facilitate communication between parents and the school and host a number of events where parents can interact with the school staff. We sponsor four PA meetings during the school year and strongly encourage parents to attend these meetings, where they can learn about the latest developments at the school. The PA meetings are also a place where parents can ask questions and talk about concerns. If you can’t attend the meetings, you can also share your thoughts or concerns with the PA Liaison(s) responsible for your child’s school.

Meetings
The PA holds four meetings a year. The Steering Committee also meets four times a year. All meetings are open to all parents and school staff members. For dates and times of the meetings, please consult the school calendar. Reminders will be sent to parents two weeks prior to the PA meetings.
