The Child School offers theatre, music, chorus, elements of composition, beginning band, and drama because we believe that creativity helps children with learning disabilities, by drawing out inner strengths. Our well-established curriculum in the arts is just one more way we’re helping students find a new “voice,” another tool to help them communicate.

New York City is a hub of expertise being generated out of multiple universities focusing much research on special needs. You can help us stay abreast of this knowledge by sending teachers to seminars to find renewed inspiration and expertise.

The Child School has a special program, not covered by the Dept. of Education, that supplements my learning. Experts are brought in to help students get extra knowledge above and beyond the regular curriculum. This special time is called the spiraling program. Individual strengths are recognized and students are encouraged to develop talents.
